Jacob Peterson
Director – Innovation and Design
Jacob seeks to inspire ambitious yet realistic vision and designs for changing places and communities.
Winning an activity centre design competition at age 14 began Jacob’s life-long pursuit for innovative well considered and clearly communicated design. Now a well-established urban design leader with over 15 years’ professional experience, he fearlessly directs Mesh’s urban design and landscape streams. Jacob is sought after by both private and public clients to help lead significant and complex master planning projects. He is well-known for his genuine and engaging approach which helps facilitate collaboration and openness between stakeholders in even the most contentious circumstances or boardrooms. He draws from his broad experience and qualifications in urban design, landscape architecture and planning to find strategic pathways and design solutions that achieve project objectives and broader community benefits.
A designer at the core, Jacob communicates through a range of drawing techniques. Unlike other emerging urban designers of his generation, he has been mentored to appreciate the iterative, agile and beautiful qualities of freehand plan sketches/diagrams. Jacob is actively working on numerous projects across Australia’s growth areas and is astutely aware of industry realities and standards.
Jacob’s life-long pursuit continues at Mesh in every project he works on, firing his passion for reimagining how we should plan and design our cities and towns.
